Where Tales Began

Where stories come from, and where they went.

Fixes to the Record

Updated

This page collects every correction made to an entry on Where Tales Began, newest first, each with a link to the page it changed. As of 18 October 2026, no corrections have been recorded.

How a correction is written

A correction appears in two places: at the foot of the entry it changes, and in the list on this page. Both use the same fixed form:

Correction (YYYY-MM-DD): what was changed, and what the earlier text got wrong.

The line says what the entry used to state, so a reader who cited the earlier wording can see what moved. Correction lines are never deleted, including when a later correction supersedes an earlier one.

Corrections that change a conclusion

Some corrections change more than a detail: a date that moves an entry's earliest ink, or a fact that overturns the comparison an entry draws. In those cases a one-line notice is added at the top of the entry, pointing to the correction at its foot, so a reader sees it before reading on.

Re-checks count as well

Entries are re-checked on a schedule, as set out on Following the Paper Trail. When a re-check changes an entry's earliest ink, or changes one of its judgments (for example, how settled a dating is, or whether a hypothesis still stands), that change is recorded here as a correction, in the same form as any other.

Revision dates

Each entry's Cite this page block shows the date of its last substantive revision. Any change to what an entry states updates that date, and no such change is made without a record, so the date in a citation always matches the version that was cited.

Reporting an error

Errors can be reported to contact@wheretalesbegan.com. The most useful reports give the address of the entry, the statement in question and the source that contradicts it, with its edition, page number and date.
